Social Distancing

Like many others my age, I never thought i would live through anything like this. I had taken our generations medical knowledge for granted and thought that a global pandemic would never happen, it had never crossed my mind, outside of reading a dystopian novel. Everyone is comparing it to the movie contagion. I've never seen it but it sounds scary.

When the news of COVID-19 first broke, no one took it seriously. I didn’t. It's the flu, everyone said, it's just another flu, it's not a big deal. That is until Trump comes on TV reading off a projector, that never happens, (Insert hilarious TikTok.) mainly because he's always so busy tweeting.

The CDC advised that all citizens should practice social distancing, keeping 6 feet away from other people at all times, keeping physical socialising to a minimum to help stop the spread of the virus. No one really took it seriously and the spread continued to get worse.

All the schools closed, multiple jobs have moved to work at home, and restaurants can only do to go and delivery. Recently the governor of North Carolina, issued a Stay at home order for all non existential citizens.

Now we are all stuck in our homes for the foreseeable future. I know that it's frustrating, I know it's hard not seeing your friends and family that don't live with you. The important thing to remember is that these things are going to help save our grandparents, parents, people that have compromised immunities, people that have had organ transplants, basically anyone that has any underlying health issues. By practising Social distancing we are helping to save these people by limiting the spread of the virus.

In order to beat the boredom, here is a list of the things I've done and will do to keep myself occupied so that I don't impulsively cut my own hair. I already have hair dye in the house so that might actually happen.

I have binge watched the netflix show Locke & Key, started season 8 of vanderpump rules, started making tik tok, making youtube videos, started writing again, working on my website and instagram again, I will started to deep clean my room and closet, i'm cooking recipes i've always wanted to try, i watched all the bright pieces and finally i started to make a bent in my watch later list on youtube, its 4,000 videos long. I’ve also had a friends make me a list of movies and shows to watch and i'm going to marathon Caroine Calloways’s themed marathon list.

We should all take this time to discover or rediscover some long lost hobbies and learn to mediaite, find some peace in the stress and worry of all this.
